[Karkat's glad the common room is mostly empty thanks to his little fire party. He hadn't noticed John before, in his rush to destroy all the evidence, but as he sits back against the arm of the chair while watching the clothes burn, he can practically feel John's presence.

A few long minutes pass though before he has the courage to speak up, idly scraping a nail along the burn mark on his arm.]

It all shatters in an instant though as he's pulled against the other, shock being obvious in the way he tenses even more at first.

It fades just as quickly though as he hears John speak, and pretty much everything breaks. He's clinging to him, face buried against the other's shoulder as his eyes start to burn with unshed tears.]
