La-la-la, wrote this today based on an idea I got while writing up an application. Huzzah~

Sakura coughed to clear the smoke from her lungs, knocking debris out of her way as she as she fought her way out of the cave-in that some hooligan’s jutsu had caused. Shishou was fighting Orochimaru with Jiraiya, she knew that, and she had to get to her, had to help her shishou. Fists backed by chakra punched holes straight through enemy shinobi that got in her way. She was dizzy, her head hurt, and every now and then she had to blink something wet and sticky out of her eyes.

Throwing herself against a wall that was still standing, she took a moment to wipe her forehead, blinking as her gloved fingers came away wet. That would probably explain the dizzy. Her forehead was cut, probably when a chunk of building had caught her in the face earlier. She’d been too busy fending attacks off to notice. Healing that minor nuisance, she took off running again. A powerful surge of chakra caught her attention, and she bee-lined towards it.

The sight unfolding in front of her made her come to a screeching halt. Lee and Gai were surrounded by Otonin, her eyes couldn’t keep up with their speed, and the pressure from their chakra kept her from advancing. When the last Otonin fell, Sakura bolted forward, a sickening feeling clenching her stomach as realization was beginning to sink in. She found Lee first, his vest stained crimson and his lips turning a dangerous shade of blue.

“Lee!” She dropped to his side, already seeking his pulse as she took his hand. He coughed in response, and she could’ve cried from relief.

“Sakura-san...” His voice was barely more than a whisper, dark eyes cracking open enough to train on her face. Her chest tightened as his fingers flexed in her grasp, the ghost of a smile on Lee’s face making her eyes burn.

“Lee, don’t talk. I’m here now, I need to heal you.” She was already trying to unzip his vest so she could heal the internal damage done by the gates. Her hands were shaking, but she had to hurry, she had to-Lee’s hand covered hers, and his smile grew sad.

“Sakura-chan...” The blood on his lips looked so wrong, so out of place... “It’s fine. You...are needed elsewhere.” She wanted to hit him, he wasn’t making sense.

“No, Lee, I can do this, I can-” The faint hint of laughter stopped her cold.

“Sakura-chan...”

“Lee, no...” She yanked her gloves off holding his hand and fearing the iciness of his touch, the other braced the back of his head. “Please...”

She didn’t know what moved her to kiss him, his cold lips were soft against her own, her tears silent as they spilled down her cheeks. Where they landed on Lee’s face, they cut a path through the dirt caked onto his skin. Dark eyes widened, and for a moment, they were genin again, the youthful spark made his eyes shine, and he grinned.

“Sakura-chan...thank you.”

She stared down at the young man as she saw the light leave his eyes, she caved, her body wracked with sobs as she held him. Those bastards! I’ll kill them! I’ll kill them all! Her tears had eased when she sensed the chakra of the enemy shinobi. Slowly lowering Lee’s body to the ground, her eyes burned with rage when she turned to face the enemy. The last thing she remembered before the rage overcame her was her howl of anger as the earth erupted around her from the force of her chakra blast.

The Oto nin wouldn’t even know what hit them.
