Well we did get a new car this week. It's a newer model Ford Escourt, I would have prefered a less sporty car, but we didn't really have time to shop. Well, I'm driving to work this morning and the front drivers tire EXPLODED, just boom and stuff.
Well this tire is the worlds worst pain in the ass to change. You have to not only have a screw driver to get at the lugnuts (because they have a cover screwed in place), but you also have to have a special tool (which I luckily found in the glove box) to take the lugnuts off. Then I had to call all over to find someone who had a compatable tire. I finally found one at Firestone for $90, which I'll be going to replace after work. This car has 17 inch rims and low profile tires, which means it's expensive as all fuck whenever I have to replace them. Plus being low profile means that not only are they a pain in the ass to find (usually needing to special order them), but that they don't last very long as well. I'm going to be going to a junk yard and trying to get 15 inch rims that are compatable with my car (each probably running about $25-$30), but then having to get new tires for all four, so that I can replace them if one gets blown. So I'm looking at spending almost $500 in new rims and tires in the next couple of months. The only good news is that I might be able to sell the rims that are on the car right now for some cash, since they are high dollar models.
