Personality Profile Part 9 - Openess / Information Processor

Aug 18, 2007 12:48

Been a few days since I updated. Ive had a troublesome tooth thats been keeping me up at nights for a bit now and after seeing a dentist thats been taken care of.

Works been really tough averaging 60-70 hours a week including 1-2 days of the weekend so its been very busy. Mid November is art lock for my team. All that really means is all the stuff thats going on the cd/dvd to the store shelves is supposed to be done. We will continue to work though after words and that is because this is a online game. So anything we missed on the art lock will be patched to the users the first time they launch the game. That will be nice though.

I should be going to Hawaii for a week or two just after the art lock though and my friend Jon might be coming with me. It will be a nice trip though because I will be going to meet up with my mom there as well and she already got a place there that is really nice and said I could stay there and Jon could to but he would have to pay her like 20-40 bucks a night. Thats only because the place wasnt cheap and if some one is going to stay there besides her own son she wants a little bit of compensation. Totally understandable though. Thats a good deal though. If he only has to pay a total of about 100 bucks for an entire week at a REALLY nice hotel and hes getting free rides around and only has to cover his own food and plane ticket. Id say hes got a great deal. Hes never been to Hawaii either. I hope he can come.

Anyhow here is the next part of the personality profile. Those who know me really well again (arakrune, hope you been reading hehe) again will probably agree with almost all of these that I have posted. Theres still about 5 more of these plus the root explanations of each of the catagories which I think are actually more of just overall sumeries of all these I have been posting. Anyhow... on with the next one.

Information Processor
Sometimes you seem to get it right away. The data comes in - an email from your boss spelling out your next project, or details from your friends about travel plans for the weekend - and you catch on quickly and incorporate the information into your schedule. Sometimes. But then there are those times when it's as if your brain jumbles the data: Does the boss want me to take the lead on this next phase or am I supposed to wait until my colleague finishes the first part? If we're leaving Friday evening are they picking me up at home or am I supposed to meet them at the usual gathering place? And then you wind up missing the due dates or the connections, turning upside down what should have been a routine collaboration.

What's up? Why this confusion in processing information? It could be that you are pre-occupied. You've got something going on in your life that distracts you from the details of the day and you'll get your game back as soon as you work your way through whatever it is. Or maybe it is some information about which you don't care that much. The work or the relationships have run their course for you and you just aren't paying attention. Another possibility is that your brain just doesn't work at its maximum efficiency when you are processing lots of new information. You're better at thinking creatively, or at long-range planning, or at the kinds of tasks that are more hands-on, ones that don't require you to constantly take in new information.

If you know this about yourself you'll be better off in the kind of work that emphasizes your strengths. And if you are upfront with your friends and your partner about those times when you go on "information overload" they are much less likely to become frustrated with you. It could just be a matter of finding the pace that is right for you; maybe find new ways to help you take in the information some new digital planner or maybe an old fashioned tape recorder where you can stay on top of the information that you need, get the job done, keep your relationships vibrant. That's where you want to be.
