Time once again to give my main man some love! These thirty James Cagney icons were made in connection with his recent challenge at classicicontest.

#01: From Captains of the Clouds (made with a screencap by roses_for_ann). This won first place in the James Cagney challenge--a fact I am exceedingly proud of.

#02: The Public Enemy, with Jean Harlow. I made a somewhat conscious effort to make this one look like a movie poster.

#03-04: Two icons featuring Jimmy on his yacht, the Martha. I used the same coloring methods on both, with very pleasing results.

#05: Taking a break on the set of Mister Roberts... I love that image.

#06: This is a candid or publicity still, I presume, but I can't swear to it. Jimmy having a little fun with his popular image as a gangster.

#07: Labeled as a still from The Picture Snatcher, although you wouldn't know it by the setting.

#08: One of the very cutest of many cute scenes in Taxi!, with Loretta Young.

#09: Generic still. With that look on his face, I couldn't resist the caption.

#10: Another generic still. Simple coloring, but I like it.

#11: A still for White Heat, with Virginia Mayo. From that picture, you'd never guess what a psycho his Cody Jarrett is...

#12: An uncharacteristically hot! still for Here Comes the Navy--complete with fake tattoo.

#13: Generic still. Same as #10, but colorized.

#14: A still from The Irish in Us. Minus the boxing shorts *cough* gloves, alas.

#15: In costume for The Oklahoma Kid--and goofing off royally. (There's a whole series of pictures of his dancing and horseplay with Rosemary Lane. Best. Photo shoot. Ever.)

#16: From Hard to Handle, with Mary Brian, I think.

#17: A candid shot of Jimmy at home? I'm not quite sure.

#18: A still from The Strawberry Blonde, with Olivia de Havilland. You can't get more adorable than those two.

#19: From Frisco Kid, with Margaret Lindsay. A rare historical romp for Jimmy--an improbable film that I'm entirely too fond of, out of sheer cussed eccentricity.

#20: Generic still. The same icon base as #9, in fact.

#21: Another generic still. This one was sort of odd.

#22: A still from Blonde Crazy, with an Irish wink.

#23: Generic still. I like the coloring, if not the picture particularly.

#24: With Ruby Keeler in Footlight Parade. Actually more of a posed candid photo than a still.

#25: A still from Each Dawn I Die. Text from lyrics by Nickelback.

#26: Generic still, ornamented with Celtic knotwork.

#27: Possibly from Yankee Doodle Dandy, or thereabouts. He wore that coat or at least a similar one in that film.

#28: From The Roaring Twenties. The text reads "Melancholy Baby", which is the title of a song used prominently in the film.

#29: A still from a later film in Jimmy's career--I have no idea which. (Unlike many of my other favorite actors, his later films are harder to come by than his earlier ones!)

#30: A generic still, and a rather generic icon.
