I just got an interesting phone call that is both very, very amusing, but also somewhat embarrassing.
We set up a new class at work and Marie decided she wanted to do something different with the advertising. She's seen the trend of sending out oversized postcards and wanted to do one. So, she spent /weeks/ on designing this stupid thing, we had them professionally printed, sent them out to every instrument rated pilot in the state (approximately 2000 people).
No responses.
I just got of the phone with a both amused but slightly (and reasonably) irritated guy...The phone number on the cards is wrong, it's his cell phone.
I'm embarrassed because this poor guy's gotten like 20 calls about it, and I looked over that damn card a dozen times before we sent it to the printers and never even noticed that two numbers got transposed.
I'm deeply amused because Marie's the one who screwed it up. This is the kind of stuff that she goes absolutely buggy about when she sees someone else (read: me) do it and goes on a "Pay attention to details" rant about.
It's also bad because, unless the guy was exaggerating about the number of calls he's gotten (which I wouldn't be surprised, but still it had to be a notable number of calls), none of them have called us, despite the fact that he gave the ones he talked to (he says and I'm apt to believe him, as he was very good natured about it) the correct number. So, unles lots of people call in the next few days we've lost a bunch of money on this.
Marie's also out of town this week and I have no idea how to tell her this when she calls in tomorrow. Especially, since today I had to tell her a pilot we know was killed in a crash yesterday. Maybe I'll just, you know, /not/ tell her.
