My OCD Dog

Yes, I have a dog with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. She HAS to eat her meals at the same time each day, has to sit in the same spot while you fill her dish (if you fill her dish before she sits down, she'll look at you as if to say "are you trying to make my head explode?" and then it takes a lot of coaxing and/or emptying out the dish and refilling it before she'll eat), and then HAS to eat the whole dish in one sitting. The only rawhides we can give her are small ones, because she HAS to finish the whole thing before doing anything else. We made this mistake once for Christmas by getting her a big rawhide, figuring it'd last her months. Yeah, notsomuch and a doggy with an upset tummy later we learned we can't do that.

One of her favorite things to play with is popping bubble wrap. She'll perform the initial attack and shred to pop a lot of the bubbles, but then she'll go through each and every shredded piece and either gnaw on it until she doesn't feel any more bubbles popping or she'll stand on the edge of the piece and pull the wrap along her front teeth to pop each and every bubble on the damn thing. She never eats the plastic and once all the bubbles are popped, she doesn't give the piece a second glance.

I swear, the only thing that keeps Jamala from locking the door 5 times every time she re-enters the house, or switching on a light 5 times is the lack of opposable thumbs. She makes me giggle.
