how tough was it to prepare it? eg taking the skin off? was it a bit of a battle or did it work out easier than expected?

boy question: did it smell bad?

I made this tonight. I cheated and used 2 local squid tubes instead of going the whole squid. I didn't really measure the ingredients, just ground up some mixed peppercorns and rock salt with a mortar and pestle and added it to the flour.

I did a variation too, with one of the tubes after I'd sliced and floured, I put in an egg wash and then breadcrumbs.

Overall, I think it was a close contest but the un-breaded rings won out by a nose. I served these up with some sweet chilli and tartare dipping sauces, and salad and wedges.

5 stars from Tristan and I :D

I have a kickin brownie recipe that I'm going to post this weekend. It uses sour cream so it's really moist!!

I am glad the kraken worked out - I am even more impressed that you mixed it up. The sign of a professional chef ;)
