White chocolate mud cake...

Dec 18, 2008 21:38

This is the most delicious white chocolate mud cake I have EVER had. It is definitely best made with Cadbury Dream chocolate though because the one time I tried to make it with homebrand white choc buds I totally paid the price. lol  ...enjoy!

Oh the cake in the picture is not mine but it does look delicious! That was the pic they had on the site I originally get the recipe from.

Here are some pics of the one I made for my son's first birthday (I had the icing sheet printed up with his photo and then piped the rest myself)...

The other one I made with the cheaper choc chips was for my husband's birthday. It was a castle shaped cake but I don't have the pics uploaded yet. It was still yummy but just not as yummy as the one made with Dream.

Ooh I haven't tried the Cadbury Dream with pink filling! I'm so going to have to now!

AMAZING! MAGNIFIQUE!

Welcome to the comm - as housekeeping, can you try and tag your posts in future? I'll edit yours - it just means we can keep track of your posts.

When you say make hte cake a few days in advance, I'm guessing you keep it uniced til the last minute?

Essential Ingredient sells Lindt Couveture and it's not even that expensive (relatively). I used their dark choc couveture for a cake once.

Ooh sorry about the tagging thing!

Yup the recipe said to ice it 'one day before serving' and that's what I did and it worked well.

I've never had Lindt Couveture but I adore the regular Lindt balls. Mmmm

It is a bit different, as it's a couveture, so it's meant to get all glossy when you melt it down to a certain temp and then bring it back up to the desired temperature.

I don't know where you live, but I find Aldi often has cheap good chocolate because they get it from Europe but because it's Aldi it's cheap cheap cheap!

Ooh ok I will have to check out Aldi! I'm in Indro so I think the Oxley one is the closest.

What a fantastic idea, having the icing printed from an image! Looks like a beautiful cake, congratulations. I'm sure Jarvis loved it. : ]
