I made this cake for my nephew's 2nd birthday last weekend (I'm his fairy god mother, so I have to do nice things like this!) It took about 4 hours all up, including cake baking time (the cake was HUGE). Its a rich chocolate cake (almost mud, but not quite) covered in buttercream and dessicated coconut. The googly eyes were made from marzipan

So, I showed my (40 year old) husband your photos, and he got really excited and insisted we try making one ourselves. Haha!

It turned out really well! :D



We used licorice for the outline of the mouth, and Arnott's "Venetian" biscuits for the eyes, with a choc drop as the pupils.
The inside is red velvet cake, which is perfect. I like the idea that Cookie Monster would bleed like anyone else if cut.

I think our next adventure will be Elmo or Oscar. ^_^

I really want to make an oscar and it take it to work, because work makes me cranky!
