sangria recipe

so the spanish feast was a success! i didn't realise that a couple of friends had turned vegan recently, so that proved to be a bit of a challenge (who knew i depended on dairy so much) but we got through it.

i will post some of the recipes i used in due time, but first i wanted to share my sangria recipe which was a resounding success.

SANGRIA
(this served 8 people about 4-6 small wine glasses each but it didn't take long for it to run out).

INGREDIENTS:

* 2 Bottles of red wine (they say use a dry one but you can probably use any. i used a merlot)
* 1 Lemon cut into wedges
* 1 Orange cut into wedges
* 1 Lime cut into wedges
* 6 Tbsp sugar
* 2 cups of orange juice (pref without pulp)
* 4 Shots of gin
* 1 apple cut into small pieces
* 1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
* 1.25L bottle of ginger ale

PREPARATION:
Pour wine into large bowl or pot.
Slightly squeeze a bit of the juice from the lemon and lime wedges, then toss the wedge in whole, leaving out seeds if possible.
Add pineapple, apples, orange juice and gin.

Cover and chill overnight.

Before serving, add gin and ice cubes if desired.

They say you can prepare for consumption straight away if you use chilled wine and a lot of ice, but for all the flavours to marinate into each other its best to chill for at least 12-24 hours if possible.
