Generally I only post when I have a definite theme to stick to. Perhaps I could say the them of this post is "Recipes I've been meaning to post to Wok for ages".

Basil and Tomato Bread Soup From Flavours by Donna Hay.
Score a cross on the base of 12 very ripe tomatoes and chuck in saucepan of boiling water for 5 min, Drain, Remove skin, Cut into quarters. Heat 2 tblsp olive oil on med heat, add two cloves crushed garlic. Add tomatoes and 3 cups veg stock. Simmer uncovered for 30min or until the tomatoes are very soft. Remove crusts from 250g woodfired bread and chop into cubes. Add bread, 1 cup basil leaves torn in half, and lots of salt and pepper. Stir for 3 minutes until heated through. Serves 4.

I have discovered Real Living magazine which is full of really useful and possible home ideas (by which i mean simple and cheap!). I love the recipes.

Chorizo Penne From Real Living.
Cook 375g penne, drain and return to pan. Meanwhile, heat a large frying pan, add 2 chopped chorizo sausages and cook while stirring for 5 min or until golden (watch the oil pour out!). Add 1 red onion (cut into thin wedges) and cook for 2min or until translucent. Stir in 2 crushed garlic cloves and 2 chopped tomatoes, and cook for another 3 minutes. Add this mixture to the pasta with some parsley, and toss well. Spoon into bowls and add 120g ricotta. Serves 4 (I say 2 ;)).

I have cooked a few versions of pumpkin and mix lentil/ bean soup recently. Because cooking the lentils/beans takes so long, you can also have something else cooking, like this creamed apple and cinnamon rice which works nicely as a dessert or a lush sweet brekky.

Breakfast Risotto From SMH.
Heat 1 litre milk, vanilla bean/ 2 tsp vanilla essence, 3 strips lemon peel and 1/2 cup caster sugar in a saucepan. Add 2/3 cup arborio rice and stir every few minutes as it simmers for 20 minutes. Stir in 2 granny smith apples (peeled, cored, diced) and a pinch of cinnamon. Keep simmering until rice is soft, about another 10min. Remove vanilla bean and lemon peel, let it stand for about an hour. Serve warm or at room temperature with some more fruit. Serves 6 (I say many more, but i did it with 4 apples).
