Well, here it is-- the end. I'd say that I'll be free of pencils, books, and teachers' dirty looks, but I love writing, I love reading, and the I had an almost universally positive experience with the faculty here.
The past four years of education have been highly beneficial for my intellect. While I don't think that my personality has changed much, I do feel that I've learned enough that my high school self seems like an ignoramous, and, in all of the ways that I want to (i.e. intellect, morality, and my ability to interact with and help others) I have matured and grown as a person.
However, as some of you know better than others, the last four years have not been easy on me-- particularly the freshman year and this final semester. That's not the sort of thing I like to discuss on my Live Journal (part of why I barely posted at all this semester), but most of you know that there's little probability of me looking back on my college experience as "the best years of my life." In short, there were good- even great- times, but overall, I'm ready to get out of here.
The main reason I'm posting this entry, though, is to see if any of you would be interested in attending my graduation ceremony on Sunday. Now, don't feel obligated; by my own admission, this ceremony is going to be boring as balls, like all graduation ceremonies. The choir (me included) will be singing a couple of pieces, so that'll be cool, if you like choral music. Other than that, though, I'm expecting nothing but one boring speaker after the next. However, what I'm hoping for is a ridiculous graduation video akin to the one Chris and I made of Vicky's high school graduation; the making of that ought to provide some entertainment for those of you who choose to attend.
At any rate, let me know if you can attend, so that I can work out arrangements for rides. We might have to get creative, but I'm sure I can work something out for anybody that wants to go. However, I would appreciate it if you could post here and let me know EITHER WAY (a post of "nah, I don't want to/can't make it" will help me figure shit out more easily than if I have to track everyone down).
Whether or not you can make it to the graduation, do let me know how soon we can hang out afterwards. Immediately after the ceremony, I'm going to be doing some stuff with some of the extended family folks who are coming down to see me dressed like an idiot and standing in a long line to pick up a piece of paper, but after that, I'm down for anything. I'll be posting later about maybe having a party with everyone, but that'll be later, around when Michelle comes up. I'm very much looking forward to this summer. Don't be strangers!
Until next time... eh, I'm fresh out of pithy little sign-offs that nobody but me will find funny. Instead, I think I'll be sincere.
You've been my greatest friends and companions. Some of you I've known longer than others; I see some of you more than others; some of you are nearly my intellectual twins, and others of you are quite different. All of these things add to the richness of our friendships. I love you all. To the north of where I'm sitting right now, there's a city on a lake that, to me at least, is anything but a mistake; I'll see you there.
