A Long Time Ago, in a Grade School Far Away...

So, there's this kid named Josh in two of my classes, Archery and Philosophy, whose face seemed familiar, but I couldn't pinpoint why. He seemed like a pretty cool guy even aside from that, and very friendly, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I knew him from somewhere. I was confounded to discover that this was his freshman year, so I would never have seen him prior to the classes we're taking together now.

I was planning on asking him if he'd gone to Central, but I was in Archery yesterday, saw his last name on the scoring sheet, and it clicked. I asked him after Philosophy this morning, and he was as stoked as I to confirm it.

Josh was a friend of mine back when I was in the fourth grade, when his mother and my father were attending Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. He was my only friend on that campus who didn't make fun of me when kids who didn't like me were around, and he is single-handedly responsible for my initial interest in Star Wars.

I look forward to catching up with him, because while I know we're probably both vastly different than we were then, it seems like he grew up to be a pretty cool guy. I want to know what he thought of the prequels, and whether he's looking forward to the new Indiana Jones flick (I also saw Raiders for the first time at his place).

It's been quite a while since I looked back on any part of elementary school with any sense of nostalgia. This is pretty friggin' cool for me.
