Oh, OTHER Things

And not my most recent obsession (ahem!).

I nearly hit a deer last night! Not an eighth of a mile from my house. She (pretty sure it was a doe, not a fawn) came out of the little patch of woods that borders the golf course. And the funny thing was, when I spotted her out of the corner of my eye, I swear I thought it was a NAKED MAN!. I had a split second of WTF before the split-second of OMG it's a DEER! Something about the way it moved. Fortunately, the deer jumped back into the woods and the guy who was way too close behind me did not hit me!

Dang. I can't escape wild kingdom, now matter where I reside.

And yes, CV, that's another reason why I should change the computer here because I was at school too late screwin' around on the internt. You don't have to remind me.

And in other (boring) news my deck has been re-stained and my columns cleaned and the front door frame painted. Plus Ray (the handyman) came in and patched the place on my ceiling where it looked like someone had an upside down accident. He's got to come back to finish touching it up later. Argh. This project is running into a month, I swear.

My mom now thinks she's coming up next week, providing my grandmother is doing OK and she doesn't hear back from the nursing home that she wants to move her to. There are various issues about medical care, insurance, blah, blah. It's driving her nuts. I guess if I can offer her some time away from it, that's good, though she's become so obsessed about her eating that a visit won't be as pleasant as it could be. She mainly wants to get up to Gastonia, which has the last big fabric store in the Southeast; she likes to 'recloth' (is that the seamstress version of refuel?) there at least twice a year.

So that's all that goes on around here. For the moment anyway.
