I took my car on the track last month. Had a ball!
Spun out alot as beginners do, but man I drove it hard as hell.
I'd pick up some speed, swing the nose right and countersteer back hard until I was sliding, met the apex of the corner and take it sideways. Straightening up was another problem!
Sometimes I was too slow with the countersteer, but after awhile I got the hang of it.
My car got a few dents in the exhaust and a scratch on the sideskirt. Nothing too major. I drove it as hard as I could because I bought the car to drive it like it's made to be driven.
(Well I dont think Nissan made the 180 specifically to drift but...lol)
I think I got a bit of respect from some of the guys because I dont think they expected me to be there. I've been looked at before like just another street driven 180 with a bodykit and flashy tailights (Type X that is).
It's just great to say I gave it a go. Next time some high school kid says, "Do you DREFT?" I can say yes I have! Fuck off, dont talk to me about cars til you have one!
I've also learnt the flaws of my car. And now I know what needs improving. So I've decided to keep it away from the track until I get some harder suspension and maybe a bit more power while I'm at it.
So now it's just a money thing.
Also wouldnt mind picking up some cheap 17"s to drift on. I used my old CA rims from my last car and boy did it look shocking on those. I want to use my P1's but they dont make them anymore so I'm screwed if I bust one.
