End of May Rambling

May 30, 2009 20:17

Okay so May doesn't end until tomorrow, but I wanna ramble now, so here goes (it's pretty long and pointless, as usual)

I saw Up! today, it was really cute! I love Disney ♥
I went with my aunt and even she enjoyed it, so it's definitely a movie for everyone

I'm supposed to be finishing my essay, but I don't really wanna, so I'm procrastinating, it's not really finishing it so much as we got them back and if we reedit them we get more points, I got a B so I'm not too worried but there's only a few things I need to fix so I'm gonna try (eventually) it's due on Monday.

I'm inducting into the National Honor Society next Tuesday, and next year I'm gonna be the Secretary, which does pretty much all the organizing stuff like planning agendas and sign in sheets etc, I'm really excited though because organizing anally is something I'm really, really good at! So it'll be fun, plus I'm good friends with the other two girls on the council and the two boys seem nice also

In the manga area, my aunt bought me Gentlemen's Alliance vols 7 and 9 a couple weeks ago, so I get to own super cute scenes, since I'm now rereading the series along with Shojo Beat's publication of it, I've gotten to really like Maika and Kazuhito-sama as a pairing :) kawaii-desu! and and no I don't own vol 8 but I had to choose between 5,6,7 or 8 and I decided on getting 7 because it had a cute TakaxHaine scene in it :) I love Tanemura

I'm really sad though that when my Shojo Beat comes next week it'll be the last one every, thanks for four great years! (though I only read it for 3) but I am glad that if it had to end this year it ends on the July issue because the first issue I read was July 2006 (it had Night and Riiko from Absolute Boyfriend on the cover and I recognized Yuu Watase's drawing style so I tried it out, I'd only been reading manga for about 6 months at that point, but I started with Ceres Celestial Legend and had read all of her works that were published in the US) so I had my mom buy it and it was the chapter where Night has been reset to love the hookerish girl and Riiko goes to get him and she ends up falling from the balcony but Night catches her and saves her, it was also the first issue to have Vampire Knight in it, so I liked both those series from then on, slowing I got into the others, now I've read almost everything under the Shojo Beat line (not Haruka or Honey and Clover though because they suck, eventually I'm gonna give Beauty is the Beast another try, didn't like it first time around) and now that I think about it I've kinda dropped Honey Hunt as well, first couple chapters were cute but it got boring, I don't think I'll read it since it won't be delivered monthly to my door anymore

On a happier note I've read a couple good series this week, I started Bitter Virgin yesterday and finished it today, it's pretty short only 32 chapters, so you should give it a go, my friend recommended it to me (we were stuck in a god awful assembly - in this heat! - and she pulled out her ipod and was scrolling through the pictures when I noticed a Beast Master picture so we started talking about semi-obscure/not-published-in-the-US manga, and she recommended it to me, and it was good!) it's a lot like Asa mo, Hiro mo, Yoru mo which I really liked, both are about a girl that's been raped and learns to trust just the one boy, apparently this is a seinen theme?
Finally finished circulating Penguin Revolution through my group and we've now moved onto Land of the Blindfolded by the same mangaka (Tsukuba Sakura?)
I'm trying the Devil Does Exist again, I tried it once and got to vol. 4 so I'm starting over, it's a cute series and relatively short I just get distracted from it (it's by the same person that did/does? Crimson Hero)
I ordered Vampire Knight season 1 + 2 on ebay, so I should be getting that by the time school's out (hopefully, it's in like Malaysia or something) I'm excited to get it because I've only watched up to like episode 4 of the first season (I hate watching shows on my computer, it defeats the point of having a tv) I'm also hoping to buy Skip Beat! before too long
I (finally) started reading Full Metal Alchemist, I'm only on the second volume though :P it's okay, I'm just not that into Shonen, it's odd because I'm really not a girly-girl but hand me a Shojo manga and I'm bawling all over the place, I never cry, except if someone's dying or breaking up or even if they're just scared I'll cry, like when I was reading Bitter Virgin Aikawa (the girl) decided she had to tell the boy she liked (Suwa) that she'd been raped and then she came across someone telling him (even though he actually already knew, but no one knew that) and I'm crying because Aikawa's crying, it's insane, I don't cry to movies or tv or even most anime (although I've never actually gotten to the end of 5 Centimeters, so that might do it and I guess I did cry to Hotohori's death in Fushigi Yugi ~hell lets face it, I cry every time but other then that I don't ever cry) I cry to manga A LOT
(this next part my have spoilers
* Fruits Basket: nearly every character's sad story, Katsuya's death, when Kyo gives Tohru the paper flower (once even when I reread vol. 1 and the told her it's okay to cry, in vol. 21 where Kyo admits he knew Kyoko and didn't 'save' her, at the end (of course, "I'm going but I'll be back" still makes me cry) pretty much ALL of vol 22, I didn't have a computer when that one came out online (in like 2006) so I was sitting in the library and all of a sudden I am just bawling, when Kyo sees Tohru for the first time since she got hurt and he's like 'I just love her' then when he catches her, and by the time we go to the love confession, the kiss and the hug, I was such a mess, and people were giving me weird looks- lovely.
Here's some of the saddest scenes I cried at:
*Fushigi Yugi at both Nuriko's death (didn't like herm until then but boy howdy did I cry when s/he died) Hotohori's death and near the end when he took over Tama's body to hug his son
* any manga where there's a happy love love ending
* Full Moon: when I found out Eichi died, when Taku confronted Mit about Eichi's death, when I reread the first vol. after Mit's deat, the end when Taku comes back, a little before that when he disappears, when Meroko gets mad about Mit's grandma and tries to take Mit's soul and Taku saves her, Izumi's past, when Meroko committed suicide, when Mit says that they aren't shinigami, they're angels
* Absolute Boyfriend when Knight died (didn't like him, total Soshi fan, loved the ending, still freaking cried)
* Gentlemen's Alliance: when Haine admits she loves Taka "too" when she finds out Taka wrote the picture book, when she tells Taka that that's where her love started, when he hugs her after that, when Shizu takes Taka prisoner and Haine's yelling after him, when Taka decides not to go with Haine because he has to help Shizu, surprisingly I didn't cry at the ending
* Inuyasha: both the anime and the manga (the episode is Return to the Place Where We First Met) love it, when Inu and Kag have a fight over Kikyo and Kag comes back and is just waiting at the well and tells him it's okay if he loves Kikyo 'too' but she still wants to be with him
* Azumanga Daioh, the end where it's all, this is the end of high school, and in the anime too

I also watched the last part of Lost in Austen on Thursday, it was interesting, it's about a modern girl who gets transported back into Pride and Prejudice and she messes everything up in the story, and she makes the characters do things that happened in the movie adaptations of the book, it was cute, I wish I'd seen the first 2 parts, so I hope to catch it next time
And my class is doing book circles, so my group was reading Their Eyes Were Watching God which was actually quite good though the ending was BS, but I finished last Tuesday and my group mates are still quite a bit behind (it's a 200 page book and it's taking 17 year olds two weeks to read when everyday in class we get 50+ minutes to read it, seriously?) I guess the dialogue is a bit hard, but I don't think it should take that long, although I may be at a disadvantage for finishing too soon because I'll have forgotten a bit of it when I take the test on it.
Some people in my class actually picked the Scarlet Letter, are they crazy? Nathaniel Hawthorne is so hard to read, we're in 11th grade, shouldn't they know who to avoid by now? I really pity them, although there wasn't much selection

I really wanna buy a DS, my aunt gave me birthday money (my bday is in December, but she wanted to get me driver's ed, but I don't have the money for a car at the moment, nor the attention span to not wreck it so we decided against it) so I kinda want to splurge and buy myself a used one at Gamestop or something, it's like $80 there apparently, but I'm gonna check the prices for new ones, because if there's not much difference I'd feel better with a new one

alright, I think I'm done for now, thanks if you got this far :)
