Taming the Bulldog

Yesterday I made a big step in completing one of the major long term goals set by Kettlebell Guro Pavel. I clean and strictly pressed my 88 lb kettlebell (the bulldog) with my left arm. The goal Pavel set is to be able to one-arm clean and strict press the kettlebe closest to one half your body weight, so since I am sitting at around 175 lbs the 88 is right on. One armed cleans have been easy and I have been push pressing the 88 since Christmas. After tightening my right fist (a technique I heard about yesterday) I was able to press the bell with my left so I am quite pleased. I then when on to C&P it another half dozen sets of singles. The sets became easier as my body learned it can do it and how to adjust for the weight. Due to the old shoulder injury I still need to push press the 88 with my right arm but I am finding I need less push to do the press. So hopefully within a few weeks I will be able to strict press with the right. Now it is time to slowly start building reps with the left arm.

I am still feeling excited and energised. Just in time to fill out the quize Chesterville posted. :)
