What’s the fun Kamenashi Kazuya has as an actor? - “I am always affected by the character I acted”
KAT-TUN’s Kamenashi Kazuya, who is also an actor, says that he’s having fun with acting. But this doesn’t mean he’s not into singing. Aside from having a stage performance of Dream Boys, he acted as Bem in a series of Youkai Ningen Bem. How does he adapt those two different characters? Let’s see his answers about that!
EPop: For this latest drama, your character is a bit special. What do you feel when you first receive the script?
Kazuya: I’ve been waiting for that kind of character. This one is far different from the ones I’ve acted before. It has a lot of CG effects! Even the make up is specially made so that I can easily transform. I hope you’ll love the drama.
EPop: Have you ever hope that you can “transform” your image?
Kazuya: Of course! That’s why I become a Johnny’s, I guess (laughs). If I ever live my life as a normal person, I won’t even care about my hair on daily basis. Every time I do my hair, I can’t avoid thinking of how different I am from the image I have in my own house. From this perspective, I feel like I’ve “transformed”.
EPop: Futhermore, you’ve brought lots of different characters before, so it can be said that you’ve “transformed” a lot!
Kazuya: Emm..I love acting. I feel happy that I can bring a lot of different characters. This drama is really a challenge for me. The chances to get a good drama is so little.I’m so thankful to have this challenge this time!
EPop: The main point and topic of this drama is new and it suits to be watched by all levels of society. But the way the adults and children look at it might be different, is it true?
Kazuya: For me, it’s new and classic all at the same time. The props and script are mixtures of modern and traditional elements. From this perspective, the casts and crews take serious opinions from the society to produce a good drama and accepted by all.
EPop: How does Bem affect you?
Kazuya: I am always affected by the characters I currently bring. So, when I’m one of the cast for Yokai Ningen Bem, I feel so lonely and always have sad eyes expression.
EPop: Have you ever feel excited to challenge a new drama again?
Kazuya: Yes! At that time, I was having Dream Boys performances. As it ended, I get started with the Yokai Ningen Bem drama filming. I’m thankful that I always have a tight schedule, so I can easily adapt it. I feel relieved to know it’s the end for Dream Boys but my manager came and told me that the filming for the new drama will start the next day.
EPop: Is it true there’s different feeling of being a singer and actor?
Kazuya: Yes. A singer really cares about his own performance and he can do it as he wish. But for acting, different characters need different style and way of acting. That is one of the reasons why I really want to take part in different dramas. I’m satisfied to be able to be in a drama a year. Actually, I’m the same as other actors, to have dramas for the whole year, but I know it’s impossible for me! (laughs)
