Happy yesterday blew day!
Yesterday was the holiday of thanksgiving but, for a group of 3 individuals, it was hell. Stephen, Dana, and I had planned to make a trip to Ohio to visit Amy. But it didn't turn out that way.
Here's the situation:
1. My car has no heat
2. The temperature outside was a balmy 15 degrees fahrenheit
3. It was snowing on west Michigan like the weather had something against us
It took Dana and 2 hours to get to Albion. Once we got there we were supposed to pile into Stephen's car, which has heat, and drive the rest of the way.
Here's the new situation:
1. To start Stephen's car you must jump it
2. His heat would come and go
3. Having that problem wth your heat is an indication of low coolant
You can guess what happens next. We get about 15 minutes out of Albion when his car overheated. We had to stop in at a Meijer and buy some more coolant and fill him up. Then we decided to go back to Albion because we don't think his car would make such a long journey. When we get back to Albion I also checked his oil and found that he was more than a quart low. Dana and I offered to bring him with us to Kalamazoo to eat with Dana's family, but he declined and chose to eat pizza and work on a paper.
Revisiting an old situation:

We get about 10 minutes out of Albion when we hear a loud boom. Then my car starts shaking like a baby in the hand of a British nanny. I pulled onto a nearby offramp and got out to check my tire. It was blown out like a porn star and when I went to change it, the wheel kept spinning even though I had my emergency brakes on. I assumed that it was something more serious with the axle or something. I used my AAA card and got a tow truck to come out and he tried to change my tire and we figured out that everything was okay and my emergency brakes just failed to engage. He put my spare on and we made it incident free to Dana's families Thanksgiving.
Summary:
We spent about 7 hours on the road, most of which were in a freezing cold car. Stephen had no Thanksgiving and we ate reheated food. 1 flat tire, 1 radiator problem, 1 oil problem, 1 dead battery, and 1 heater problem. Yay for sucking!
