Ok....so it's been about 2 months since I've written in this thing and I think it's about darn time I do so again! Now, you may be assuming that I intend to post something coherent and interesting but that would be the wrong thing to assume. What I think I would rather do is not that.
Ok, so I am definitly in the best mood ever. Rocking away to the Beatles and laughing with Sarah. I think the word "adendum" best sums up the past week for us. I've discovered that about two days ago was the first time I'd talked online with people for a substantial amount of time in at least a month! Crazy.
I'll be leaving for China with the WMU sypmphonic band Thursday morning...I can't believe it's time to go already! thia semester has definitly flown by and even though I'm totally excited to be going to China, I'm not sure I'll be ready to go home for the summer when I return to the states. I definitly feel like most of my friends are now here in kalamazoo and that I'm leaving a lot of oppotunities behind. I've been invited to do so much here and now I can't. But on the flip side, I really do miss my family and my brother especially. Sonja ended up getting me a job for the summer. Yup, she pretty much wrote me a letter an enclosed an aplpication to work at Eckert's greenhouse and said, "Just fill out the application and you're hired. Carl (the boss) just wants to meet you so you can discuss your hours." Just whoa! I mean, I expected at least an interview or something! But I'm really excited because 1) I need a job and 2) I was hoping to work at a place with lots of windows since I like to be able to see outdoors! but now I get to (essentially) be outside all the time! And, by the fall I'll be able to help anyone with gardening problems... or at least help you take down that pesky hanging basket that's always just out of your reach.
I will also be participating in the International Women's Brass Conference this June 12th through the 17th. I'll be performing my solo and hopefully winning some prizes! It's held in Normal, Illinios and this will be the first time I'll get a taste of how I compare with other people my age in terms of horn performance.
Even though this is my LJ I feel I should also write about my bro a little bit. He'll be garduating June 10th. I think I get to help him with his grad party and since I love organizing stuff like that I'm really looking forward to it. Paul will be leaving for Boot camp in July for the marines and I'm going to miss him dearly. We're allowed to write letters and stuff, but I don't really think having a letter read my your seargent in front of all the guys in the Barracks is something to be proud of. He won't be back until maybe October and then he thinks he'll be shipped to the Philippines. I asked him if I could visit and he just gave me this look..haha, it was so funny. And then I asked if I could go to a marine party and he gave me another look and said, "I am not taking my sister to marine party. Do you know what those guys are like?" I think I could handle it. lol. Good news for my brother is that he got two or three people to sign up for the marines as well and for every two people you sign up you get promoted, so now he's officially Private first class. If he gets one more person to sign up then he'll become a seargent or coroporal or something. In any case I am uber proud of him!
In other news I am a bit disappointed in JZ and Chris...yes, that's right! You guys should have totally some to Western this past weekend! It would have been a lot of fun....curse you JZ and you're business! Chris...you should have taken a taxi! Also, now that I work at Eckert's which is right across from JZ's street I think I'm going to go to your house one day and randomly have lunch with your mom...lol.
I saw the movie Ice Age with Sonja when I went home for Easter. It wasn't as good as the first one, but there were some cute moments. Sonja also had me over for dinner and then she slept over y house and in the morning we baked a blueberry pie! I'm finally half way through the large amount of frozen blueberries in my freezer leftover from when I went a little overboard picking them last summer. It's really addicting. And then when i was coming back to Kzoo I got stopped at mile marker 92 because the raod went to one lane and I didn't get in until about1 in the morning! Ugh! but I was listening to some crazy rap (man, there are some dirty lyrics in those songs!) and then I put in my tape (yes, a tape because I don't have an I-Pod or cd player) of Ace of Base. Now that's old school.
This past weekend was crazy fun! Friday night I watched Brokeback Mountain since I had nothing else to do and no money and then Sarah came back and we talked about the stuff we usually talk about (haha Sarah, we each like a certain something that starts with a "b" ...hahaha) We need to have a codeword! And then we played cards for a while - yeah, the classics...A little crazy-8s, a little rummy, and then a little go fish! I totally kicked Sarah's butt! Woo (not that I'm rubbing it in or anything;-)
Saturday I slept in until 11:30 and that's only because I was having the wierdest dream and woke up with a racing heart...mostly I got sent to Bootcamp in Montana and had to climb this rope thing but when I left for a moment to use the bathroom my company left and forgot that I had yet to complete the course. Anyway, It was suddenly nighttime and one of my fellow boot-campers decided it would be funny to push the seargent's car off the cliff and so I ran after her telling her it was a bad idea and then I woke up. Intense, I know.
So around 1 pm my parents came with a ton of boxes to get a majority of my stuff since I'm leaving Thursdy morning for China. We went to Big Boy for lunch and then packed for about 3 hours. Man I have too much stuff. But not as much as last year. It's so sad now that our walls are all bare and lonely. After I practiced for about an hour I came back to the dorm and Sarah and I got ready for what was about to be one of the craziest parties ever! We picked up Steve and John Altan around 7-ish and headed to Jess's apartment. Man oh man. There were so many people there! I didn't think it was possible to fit that many people into her small apartment! Apparently people were quite surprised to see me there... people kept asking me why I was at a party. haha....I had no idea I had such a "goody-two-shoes" / serious reputation! Well, let it be known good citizens of this Earth that I am in fact more than willing to let loose once and while and have a good time... a very good time... a very inebriating, drunken, intoxicating, and smashing good time. And that my friends is where I shall say "adieux" for now and wish you all a good night! I shall post more later!
