The weekend was quite odd in WildWill's world, which is why I've dubbed this weekend "Bizarro World Weekend."
Let me explain - no explaining might take too long, let me sum up:
Friday Night - Nothing truly exciting, in bed by 10 pm - sad but true. When you have a baby, you get as MUCH sleep as you possibly can. But we did get our Dental Enrollment Cards, and that was important.
Saturday - Kaylee woke up around Six AM, Mel got up with her, and grabbed the computer, which is kind of odd. When I dragged ass out of bed about an hour later she had printed out a bunch of Dentists who had Saturday hours and was about ready to start calling to see if she could get in. I decided to go to the grocery store to get eggs and other breakfasty type products and took the baby. Long story short, we were at the Dentist by 10 am, and done by about 11:30. After a quick bit of shopping and grabbing of food/essentials, we're home by kickoff of the UCLA/USC Football Tilt. The baby falls asleep, Mel takes a nap, and I start to watch the game, but am soon bored and fall asleep on the couch - and at that point the score was 7-0 USC.
Woke up about an hour later to the sounds of loud banging from outside. Too loud to be the construction next door (besides they NEVER work that late on a Saturday), and too loud to be gunshots. Turns out, it was a tarp from the construction site that had become detached, and landed on the power lines in the alley, causing an arc which, then blew out the power on our block, the block next door, and the lights on Burton Way. This was about 2:30 PM.
So we chit-chatted with our neighbors, walked around trying to figure out what was going on, and assessing how long it would take for them to get the power back on. We grabbed as many candles as we could find (and BOY do we have enough candles), cooked a pizza and enjoyed an electricity free evening. Even though my MacBook was charged, I couldn't get any wi-fi signals, because, well all the local networks went down with the power. So we listened to iTunes, and basically acted like it was 1850. We got all ready for bed, Kaylee fell asleep around 7 pm, and we had just hunkered down getting ready for some adult entertainment, and the baby starts howling. The power had been restored. And there was much rejoicing.
So we stayed up even later, and watched television.
Then came Sunday - the sports day from HELL. Even though the Chargers won, and my fantasy football team won, I didn't do THAT well in my Pick'em Pool which I've been leading for the past six weeks or so, and, the big upset, my #1/2 Bruins LOST to the #8 Texas LongHorns. Now granted, we played like SHIT and deserved to lose, but I still hate it when we do.
FORTUNATELY it's only our first loss this season, and it should be a wake-up call to our boys letting them know that they DO have faults and those can be exploited. I was deeply upset with their play in the first half, going 0-12 at one point from the field, and taking nothing but bad perimeter shots. The Longhorns got in to a 2-3 zone, and we couldn't bust it at all.
We did come back in the second half, only to break down on Defense in the last couple minutes of the game - put it this way, we lost by 2 after leading by 4 with 2 minutes to play. Sad.
So what else - we haven't really started our Christmas shopping quite yet, though we've bought a couple things. It's going to be a pretty lean Christmas for us in all likelihood. Any Christmas bonuses will be going towards catching up on bills, and getting ready for the New Year when massive changes will be happening to our little family. I don't want to say quite yet, but big changes are afoot.
