Mike’s mother often wondered what her son could possibly be doing in his room for hours on end. He most likely wasn’t studying: his last report card was evidence of that. She’d certainly never expected that he’d been dancing.
So when Mike - shy, soft-spoken Mike - asked her if she wanted to come to his glee club’s next performance, it had been a bit of a surprise. He hadn’t even told her he’d joined.
He may not be the best student, she thought as she watched him glide across the stage. But in that moment, she had never been more proud.
