There Kurt was, again, scrubbing the black permanent marker of his locker where another faceless, meaningless jock had decided to scrawl:
'Hummel lykes cock!'
He hated to admit that he was numbed by the regularity of these messages - it no longer made him leak out hot, angry tears. He ran out of those by the end of freshman year. It was now all muscle memory, getting the turpentine from the art-room, grabbing a rag and scrubbing.
“Their spelling’s getting worse,” Rachel says behind him. “They spelt loser wrong on my locker yesterday - it only has one ‘o’.”
They share a sad smile as Kurt continues scrubbing.
