on my trip...

So, being in IL was driving me insane.  I decided to be crazy and drive to visit some friends in Minot, ND.  It was wonderful!!!!  I started off my visiting some friends in Chicago.  I got to play games, eat good food, hang out with a very cute baby, and see lots of runners covered in mud.  What can beat that?  Then I headed out on a 15.5 hour drive.  It wasn't bad at all due, in a large part, to the fact that the sun doesn't fully set until after 10pm that far north.  The week spent with my former roomate, her husband, and two year old son was such a welcome break.  No requirements to do anything, no one asking me about the job hunt, not worries about being unemployed shortly, no trying to be everything to everyone.  We played a lot of wii games.  I am now addicted to Mario Kart for the wii, and due to the internet connectivity of the game, I will be able to continue playing with them remotely.  They also had a garage sale while I was there.  I am now the proud owner of The Sims and about 6 expansion packs.  More ways to waste time!  Is it a bad thing that I have so much time to waste?  On Sunday I sadly had to leave.  I decided to stop in WI for the night, so Monday was a short easy day.  I started off by going for a swim in the hotel pool.  When I get a house, I WILL have an inground pool... a morning swim is the best way to start the day in my book.  After breakfast and some tv time, I hit the road again for a short 5 hour drive home.  On my way into town, I stopped at Best Buy to pick up Mario Kart.  Last night my friends and I managed to get our "friend" status connected on the wii, so we should be good to go for some driving competition soon.  Today I went back into work.  Already it's starting to drag me down again.  At least I'm finally starting to get some interest in my resume again, so hopefully things will pick up on the job front and I can get out of this limbo soon.  Until then, I'm looking forward to my next escape to DC in August  and taking one day at a time :)
