1. Work out four times between now and Sunday. Since I have a crazy-busy week ahead, I plan on doing one day of yoga, one day of free weights/Fit Ball, and two days of aerobic exercise (preferably one day of walking w/ J at the Delcastle track). I'm excited because I'll have my Y membership back this week (I'm teaching classes in exchange for a free membership!) and then I don't have to worry about the weather as much.
2. Watch my water. I think I'm still getting 64 oz. of liquid in a day, but I was drinking more plain water a week or two ago, and this is the second morning in a row I woke up feeling dehydrated. So I have to track it more carefully this week.
3. Make fish-based meals two times this week. We don't eat nearly enough fish in these parts. We have been doing more veggie-based, meatless meals, though.
4. Eat light on Saturday to compensate for J's and M's birthday dinner. Dinner itself won't be bad - we're doing an antipasto platter and I'm making a bolognese sauce that takes four hours to cook (it's the famous one from O Magazine a couple of years ago) served over buccatini (sp?). But J's favorite dessert is tiramisu, so I'm making it for him from scratch, and I know I'm going to want a small piece. I'm one of those people who just doesn't dump, period - the closest I get is having diarrhea if I take Lortab Elixer on an empty stomach, and even then it's not constant. So I really have to watch the sweets. Fortunately, my sweet tooth is nothing like it was pre-surgery - I'm much more a salty-crunchy girl now, and I've been trying to fill my cravings with low-fat microwave popcorn, soy nuts, and wasabi peas.
5. Get fasting labs done on Thursday. I have another follow-up with my surgeon a week from tomorrow, and I want the labs done before then.
Weighed myself for the first time since last Tuesday, totally fearful of the scale - but I must've done something right because I somehow managed to LOSE four pounds over Thanksgiving weekend. Who *does* that? I'm now at a 91 lb. total loss. I've been running around the living room all morning, saying, "Ninety-one pounds, bitches!" to no one in particular. This means that my year-end goal of a 100-lb. loss is attainable. And, at 331 lbs., I'm literally ONE POUND away from being able to use a Wii Fit, which was a goal of mine, so if we get it as a Christmas present, I'm going to be so psyched. AND I'm only four lbs. away from my previous recent lowest weight (327), which I stayed at for maybe a couple of weeks in fall 2002. When I break that 300 lb. barrier, I will be at my absolute lowest weight since 1999, when two weeks on WW put me at 299 briefly. (There are long periods where I have no idea what I weighed, but I know I wore a 26/28 on top from about the age of 16 until about 24. In college, I had one year where I dropped a bunch of weight and got down to about 255, and that New Year's Eve I wore a size 18 dress that was gorgeous and fit perfectly. So I know that in early 1997, I was in my 250s and wearing 18/20s - and then my long-term on-again, off-again boyfriend and I broke up for good and I started packing on the pounds. But I digress.)
Numbers aside, the past few months have been an amazing time in my life. I can't believe how much energy I have now compared to the slug I was from Feb. right up until surgery. It wasn't just that I was exhausted all of the time, though I was. It was that it hurt to move. Between the psoriasis cracks on my feet that were so bad, I'd start crying on a walk to the bathroom, and the intense back pain I'd feel whenever I'd have to walk further than my front door to the car, I was a mess. I had to bring a chair into the kitchen to cook, because I couldn't stand longer than 10 minutes without the kind of pain that makes you suck wind through your teeth. I hated feeling so imprisoned in my own body; I felt helpless and week and dependent, which doesn't suit my personality one bit. And now - now I can't sit still! If I'm watching TV, I'm bouncing a foot, or running from room to room doing stuff as I watch. The other night, when we had Thanksgiving II at my mom's, I was dancing with her in the kitchen and she got that slitty-eyed cat look and was like, "You're becoming manic." Um, no, I'm just happy. Happier than I've ever been in my entire life, maybe. So deal with it.
Ninety-one pounds, bitches!
P.S. Has anyone been watching RUBY on the Style channel?
P.P.S. I need a new icon. I no longer resemble the Venus de Willendorf as strongly. Any suggestions?
