My nutritionist's answer to the B12 question.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted on the new supplement standards for gastric bypass patients. There was some question about my nutritionist's claim that if you take Forvia, you don't need an additional sublingual b12, so I e-mailed him and this is what I heard back:

Good to hear from you. Forvia brand multivitamin supplies 1000 mcg of B12. The previous recommendation was to take 500 mcg in addition to the Flintstone type multi (6 mcg of B12). Although sublingual B12 may be preferred, oral administration in either tablet or liquid form would be acceptable. Hope that answers your question. -Sam

So, I don't know if that definitively clears anything up, since it still seems that the b12 is better absorbed sublingually. However, I think I'll try the Forvia and see if b12 becomes a problem. If it does, sublingual it is.
