Today I did something so foreign to my body, I barely noticed it.
I crossed my ankles, and sat legs together in my chair.
Most folks would just take this for granted, and they'd be
correct. Yet- I'm shocked and amazed how easily I put my
ankles together.Just a little move like that would have been
impossible a few months back. A few months ago my ankles were loaded with edema, A few months back, one ankle
would have crossed the other with pain. Pressure on feet and calves
caused an indentation in my skin, so badly that I couldn't do that for
long. In the past, the indented ankle stayed that way for a few minutes.
Today I had a small victory.
Little things in life are what matters the most.
Little milestones remind me of the progress I'm making.
This surgery has been a lesson in restraint.
WLS is not a microwave. My weight isn't going to be
zapped off in 30 seconds. Wishing it were true, I want to
unzip this fat suit and kick it away. But that would be unreal.
Better to record all of the small victories, and savor them down
this long and winding road.
