They're embarrassing all of us, and it makes me want to weep. The misinformation on this matter is rivaled only by the spread of the Birther rumors.

I hesitate to ask, but what are the "birther rumors"?

Those crazy stories about Obama not having been born in America, having a valid birth certificate, fake SSN, being a Muslim, etc, that are propagated by the "Birther Movement." The worst part of it is that CNN reported yesterday that belief in this crap is growing.

Oh, good lord. I don't believe the man is the right one for the office, but at least my arguments are based on reason!

The Birthers completely ignore that John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which means that his citizenship is based purely on the fact that his parents are citizens. Obama's mother was undeniably a citizen, therefore Obama is a citizen even if he was born at the bottom of the Marianas Trench. And Hawaii has confirmed that he was born there; if they're not going to trust the government of Hawaii, there's no talking to them.
