I Will Remember You by Sarah McLachlan
I’m so afraid to love you, but more afraid to loose
Clinging to a past that doesn’t let me choose
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don’t let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
First Love by Karina
I feel like I have known you all my life
I can't explain how close we are
When something's wrong, you know how to make it right
That's why you stay close to my heart
You are more than a friend you're my first love
I can always depend on my first love
The Call by Regina Spektor
I'll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye
Just because every thing's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are as you head off to the war
Leave Out All the Rest by Linkin Park
When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed
And don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
Not As We by Alanis Morrisette
Day one, day one
Start over again
Step one, step one
I'm barely making sense
For now I'm faking it
'Til I'm psuedo-making it
From scratch, begin again
But this time I as I
And not as we
Gorecki by Lamb
If I should die this very moment, I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you, loving every breath of you
Still my heart this moment,
Oh it might burst
Could we stay right here until the end of time
Until the earth stops turning
Wanna love you until the seas run dry
I've found the one I've waited for
Rain by Concrete Blonde
Rain
Thought I heard a footstep
Thought I heard the phone
Standing on the doorstep
Listening alone
And all I hear is rain
Thought I saw your headlight
Thought I heard your car
Shadows on the streetlights
Fog and nothing more
And all I hear is rain
Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
How this world turns cold
And breaks through my soul
And I know, I'll find deep inside me
I can be the one
I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to Heaven

Title: The Girl, the Ghost, and the Bat
Jo Harvelle knew that she was being an idiot going after this ghost by herself, but she felt like she needed to prove herself. Not just to her mom, who never saw her as anything more than just her little girl that needed to be protected; not just to the Winchesters, who probably saw her as more trouble than she was worth; but mainly to herself. She needed to prove that she had what it took to be a hunter, and not just some bartender for the rest of her life. She needed to shut up that voice in the back of her head that was telling her she wasn’t cut out for this.
That’s why she was here in Gotham City, in an old, haunted apartment building looking for the bones of Mathilda Carpenter, a woman who had been brutally murdered by her husband over a hundred years ago. Her spirit had been hanging around ever since, eviscerating any man that moved in.
“If I was some crazy bastard, where would I hide the body?” she muttered under her breath, hoping that Mathilda wouldn’t show up. Being thrown around by a pissed off ghost was not on her list of things to do in Gotham.
“What are you doing here?” a deep, gravely voice asked from behind her. Resisting the urge to jump-she’d think about how he’d manage to sneak up on her later-Jo carefully turned around, trying to keep her sawed-off out of sight. She stared at the black shape lurking in the shadows just to the left of the window, making it hard to distinguish what it was. The only thing she could make out was the pointed ears at the top of the head. Hell. It would be just her luck to run into some sort of monster on her job.
“It’s just a dare, I promise,” Jo answered, trying to sound like a scared college girl. “The girls at the sorority said that this was a test, and I didn’t mean anything by it, and I’m really, really sorry and I’ll never do this again!”
The thing by the window didn’t move and Jo hoped that he bought her wannabe-sorority girl act.
“Do you normally bring shotguns with you on dares?” the thing asked, taking a step closer to her. Jo took a step backwards, not bothering to hide the gun this time. Damnit! It was only loaded with salt, but it would hurt like hell if she needed to use it.
“My daddy always said to be prepared,” Jo answered, still trying to sound like the college girl. “Bringing along a gun seemed like a smart idea. This being a rough area and all.”
Jo got the distinct impression that the thing was studying her, but she ignored it. Shouldering her bag, she headed for the door. She was almost there before a gloved hand caught her arm.
“Be careful,” the thing warned her. “Gotham’s not safe after dark.”
“Yeah, well, I can kinda see that,” Jo answered with a nervous laugh, not all together faked. She could get a better look at him now, and while she was sure that he wasn’t some sort of monster, she wondered what insane person would dress up like a bat in Gotham City. “Now, if you don’t mind, I really, really don’t want to spend any longer in here than I need to.”
He let go of her arm, and she was about to walk out the door when she felt the room’s temperature suddenly drop.
“Shit,” she muttered, not surprised to see her breath misting in front of her. Movement flickering in the corner of her eye was her only warning, and she quickly turned and brought up her gun. She fired just as the man next to her let something at her, knocking her gun out of her hands.
“What the hell was that for?” she demanded rubbing her hand. Mathilda had vanished after the salt had hit her, leaving only her and the man in the still frigid room.
“I could ask you the same thing,” the man growled. “What did you shoot at that hologram?”
“Hologram? You think that explains the room suddenly freezing?” Jo asked. Before the man could respond, she saw movement behind him. “Look out!” she cried, just as he went flying into the opposite wall.
Mathilda stood there in the middle of the room, her yellow dress splattered with her own blood. Jo tried to scramble to get her gun, but she found herself being shoved hard against the nearest wall. Scrambling to find purchase so that she could stand, Jo found an old, rusty poker.
The man had struggled to his feet and was reaching for something when Mathilda sent him flying again. This was enough of a distraction for Jo to get up and swing the poker through her.
“Help me find her bones!” she shouted, keeping the poker in her hand and swinging at the walls with it. “We need to salt and burn them if we want to make sure she doesn’t come back!” She didn’t give a damn whether he thought she was crazy or not as long as he didn’t just stand there. Jo grabbed the gun that was still on the ground and tucked it under her arm, just in case.
“Over here,” he growled, standing next to a hole. Jo started walking over before she spied Mathilda starting to reappear.
“No you don’t,” Jo muttered, shooting off a round of salt in her direction. She made it to where he was standing and shrugged off her bag. “Cover me,” she said, about to hand him the gun when he grabbed the poker instead. “Whatever,” Jo muttered, opening her bag and grabbing the salt, gasoline, and matchbook.
She heard the poker swing through the air as she sprinkled salt on the bones before quickly dousing the entire thing with accelerant. “Later, bitch,” Jo said as she quickly lit the match and tossed it into the wall. Behind her, an inhuman screech went up, as Mathilda burst into flames.
Jo carefully watched the bones and made sure that they were completely burned before grabbing the small blanket next to her and used it to smother the flames. There was no reason to add arson to her police record.
“Thanks for the help,” Jo said, turning around to thank the man, only to find him gone as silently as he had originally appeared. Shrugging, Jo gathered her stuff and exited the building as discreetly as possible. Fortunately, she hadn’t attracted too much attention, so she didn’t have to worry about the police showing up to see what the disturbance was.
Something moved on a rooftop and she looked up, only to see empty space.
“You better not follow me all the way back the motel,” Jo muttered, walking towards the bus stop. She didn’t want to deal with that right now. All she wanted was a hot of a shower she could get, and 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep before blowing this joint. It wasn’t going to happen for a while, though. She wanted to find out who the hell her mysterious helper was and what his deal was.
