For the first time since the amazing run to the Stanley Cup Finals, the Mighty Ducks are back in the playoffs. They clinched a spot with a 4-2 win in Vancouver. That gives them a 42-24-12 record good for 96 points. This is the Ducks' best record in franchise history (previous record for wins was 40 and points was 95, both set in 2002-2003, the year we went to the finals). The Ducks are now 35-14-8 since a huge losing streak in November, and only the Red Wings have been better during that time. Right now the Ducks look like a team that will be damn hard to put down, and that's a good feeling. The only teams that could give Anaheim a lot of trouble in the playoffs would be Detroit and Dallas (the other teams are teams I think Anaheim can take), and even those two I think would have enormous difficulty with the Ducks.
All in all I think this Ducks team is better than the finalist team in 2003, and they have a very real chance of winning the western conference again. It'll be exciting to see how they play this final week and into the playoffs. Bring on the Cup baby!!!
