Schools I hate

Alright, so I am pissed, and for once it has nothing to do with women. I have spent four years at this goddamned school working my ass off all the time in my classes (Bamboo can attest to that, since we often made fun of those whose academic lives ended after undergrad....that whole "finding yourself" bullshit), I've published a paper (with a former Princeton grad), am working on a very difficult thesis problem (with another Princeton grad), have graded and TAed everything known to man (even taught some classes when Prof Miller was gone). So let's see....I have good grades, research experience, good recs from profs who WENT to the schools I wanted to go to (Miller actually offered to talk to all these schools and ask WTF.....he literally said this lol), and lots of teaching experience. What else could I have possibly done? Do I just suck that much? I hate grad schools, especially Princeton, U Chicago, and now Harvard (the latest rejection). I wish the whole admissions process would just die.

So my last real hopes I guess are Columbia and Michigan (I really don't want Berkeley, UCLA, Rutgers, or BU)...if I don't get into a school I want, I may take a year off from school entirely and work (and do independent research...perhaps even publish a good amount of stuff) and then reapply to these schools again. I really want in, and I really want to know what it would take to GET me in.

It is really depressing to have to admit you aren't good enough to play with the big boys.
