More than you ever wanted to know about lunch
No brain but want to natter so here you go
D dosent do mornings well and if I didnt set things up he would forget or just not eat till much later so I set it all up so its easy for him. (I would get up and cook but he dosent want company and I like sleeping past 6am)
What do I make for D every working day? glad you asked.
I make a big batch of mixed souped up cerial and put it in single serving boxs so all he has to do is pop the top and pour the milk. It also controls portion size.
A serving has
2 cups mixed lower sugar cereal this months batch (raison bran, all bran, Oaty Os, generic granola)
2 tablespoons dried fruit (this month its tropical mix, kiwi-mango-coconut-etc)
2 tablespoons nuts (this month sliced almonds, and pecans)
2 teaspoons Wheat Germ
He also gets 4oz of Greek Yorgert. (each Night I add the container of yougert to the box so its just two things out of the fridge no juggling for the sleepy man)
We have a Keurig so I make sure it has water, the coffee is ready and there is a cup and spoon
For lunch its the same basic thing every day (but what excatly it is varies )
Sandwich (today is french bagget, smoked ham, Munster, yellow mustard, pickle relish)
Cup of mixed fruit and veg (this week grape tomatoes, baby cut carrots, green grapes)
1 Tablespoon of nuts (this week Shelled Pistachios)
1 oz bag of chips (today its Cheddar sun chips)
1 Single bite sized candy bar (this week its snickers) (between Halloween, Christmas, and Easter I can find the tiny bars cheap)
At night he gets a salad (given that he hated veg its a victory)
2 tablespoons fatty protein (cheese, meat, chick peas, nuts)
2 tablespoons croutons
half cup diced fresh fruit (apple, pear, plum, grapes)
about a cup of veg (carrots, peppers, tomatos, cukes, etc)
and of course greens
I also make a Gallon of herb tea every other day
I may be obsessive but its helped keep his blood sugar perfect under 150 all the time from 1270) and I love him and its one of the ways I can show him. I think he must get board but he seems fine with it
