Okay, so I'm swiping this from
bauble because it looked fun and I make poor decisions. Go ahead and request any fandom I've ever written, which means Inception, Teen Wolf, Harry Potter, XMen: First Class, Suits, TSN, Avengers (I wrote a snippet...once...it was Clint/Darcy), and Veronica Mars (no, my VM fic is not locatable, or finished, but) are all on

The first thing you need to know about Neptune High is that everything is glossy on the surface, but it has an underbelly like an elephant's. That is to say: a large one. You realize these things when you're constantly looking for them.
That is to say, when you're a P.I. Or your dad's one. Which Arthur Mars' is, and in his case, having a P.I. for a dad and being a P.I. is pretty much one and the same.
It's partly that they both sort of started this together. Kind of. Almost. After Mallorie Miles died and Arthur's dad lost his job as the Sheriff for accusing Professor Miles for the murder of his own daughter.
It was complicated. Arthur's trying not to think about it. He's trying not to think about it, or anything. It's the first day of school after a summer largely spent in his car, taking pictures of men cheating on their wives while Backup licked his face and Arthur--didn't think.
Mal was dead. Someone bashed her head in.
When Arthur gets to school, there's a girl taped to the flag pole. Some asshole from the baseball team is taking pictures of her, which means Arthur has to be the one to cut her down, because--that's what he does, now, the shit that no one else wants to do. God, and he used to be popular, used to hang out with Dom Cobb and Robert Fischer and the rest of them, mostly because Mal herself was his best friend, and Mal was the queen of the lot of them. But that's not--it just isn't.
"Thanks," the girl from the flagpole gasps, smiling at Arthur too broadly.
"No problem," he says, and walks away. When she follows him and offers a hand Arthur shrugs a little.
"Ariadne," she says. "I'm new."
"Obviously. Piece of advice, gratis," Arthur says. "You don't really want to be friends with me."
"Don't I get to decide that for myself?" she says. "I mean, I don't know how you do things here, but it's not like I was expecting to be cool."
"Yeah," Arthur says, shrugging and pushing his way through the doors. "That's not how you do things here."
The way they do things here is that you're cool or you don't exist, you're cool or you're the scum on the bottom of someone's shoe, less than, even. It's all or nothing, here.
And now this becomes not!fic, because, okay, and so what I was thinking--Ariadne is Wallace, more or less, and Yusuf might be Weevil? Not quite sure on that. Robert Fischer might be Logan, kind of? In that his father is responsible for Mal's death. Cobb was, of course, dating Mal, but Cobb I think was probably more like Duncan? Just because Cobb and Duncan seem really similar. I am not sure how Eames fits in; he might be more like Troy, except for without the part where he steals drugs in Mexico and leaves the country. Anyway, characters probably wouldn't hew too closely to the Veronica Mars ones, and maybe they don't need to--maybe Eames is just a random popular asshole, idk. Not entirely sure how to connect him to Mal, though.

I do see a lot of parallels between Duncan and Cobb! Also Ariadne as Wallace is perfect! Hm I would actually see Yusuf as Mac, the go to tech guy.
Maybe Mal and Eames were BFFs instead of Fisher so Eames in Logan's role or maybe even in Weevil's role although neither are a perfect fit.
Ah Troy- Veronica's often forgotten bf. I thought they had great chemistry together and was sorry to see him go so early on in the series. (Of course Logan and Veronica were fantastic together but Tory and Veronica had such an interesting dynamic.)
