The Year In Review

May 03, 2006 23:28

So this is the infamous, and common end of the year updates that are beginning to pop up in many livejournal's and blogs around the country.

This year has had many ups, and many downs, with more of the latter which is always a welcome feeling. Constant bickering, arguments, frustrations, lack of participation, and no e-board, are just some of the former that were faced in this past year. The Pre-Law Society, although starting off on a fabulous high and gaining momentum first semester, came to a near crash by the end of the second semester. The new Executive Board I am happy with, and I feel that we will bond together, like peas and carrots. Many things will be in store for the second year of the Society, and lots of planning, arguments, and discussions will be had over this exhaustive summer.

Fall Welcome has started off to a great start, with lots of planning getting accomplished. The downfall being that today I found out two of my fellow co-coordinators will be stepping down by the time the program has begun. I am slowly beginning to realize how challenging the task of co-coordinator of 180 ambassadors, 3500 incoming freshman, and the expansive list of faculty and staff, that will need to remain happy, consistent, and calm in just a time of seven short days. Seven months of planning going into a week of events that, for many participants, will change their experience and possibly their life. Being in the position of training coordinator is definitely an awesome power knowing that everything I have learned will be passed to the ambassadors which will, in essence, be contributed to the discussions with their freshman. It is kind of overwhelming knowing that I will have an impact on so many people, but it feels SOO great all at once. It feels good because this is what I have been waiting for in my short time at Western. The feeling to be recognized, and seen as somewhat of a mentor is an awesome feeling, and one that I definitely will not take for granted, and let it get to my head. This summer will hopefully progress smoothly in the sense of Fall Welcome.

Just yesterday I found out the fate of my hard work that I had devoted to my education this semester. All of these events can be seen in later posts, but the greatest accomplishment was being invited to speak at the MSU Conference. With all of the hard work I have managed to pull a 3.47, or two A's and 2 B's, which is a huge step from my terrible last semester. With last semester being said, I have decided to take one course this summer, and that being Microeconomics. Much of my decision was based around what the GPA would be brought up to if I aced this class, along with the one other class thats grade was below a B. So both courses I will be taking in the next two semesters, with the hope of earning the mark of A. All of these decisions were, of course, based around my worry of getting into an outstanding law school, but I won't chat about that this evening.

And finally, in my last post I had left out some great detail about what was going on at the time, and much was left open for interpretation. The fact that I am transferring to MSU is not going to be happening. The reason for my ponder of the issue was based around the sole fact that MSU has one of the best Political Science departments in the country, and I wanted to be apart of it. But with many friend's arguments against the idea, and the self reflection that I was doing it merely to give up everything I have done on campus at WMU, to be with a better program. I didn't even think about the feasibility of doing the things I have done at Western, and doing the same at MSU, with the chances being slim to none. And finally, yes there is a boy I am interested in, but things are still developing, mainly remaining in the talking mode for the time being. Other than that, no other details will be posted on this issue. If you really want to know more, give me a call, or AIM me.

Alright, that was quite a long post, but really glad things have been said and put out there. On a final note, I am still getting settled into the summer house, which has turned out to be an awesome setup with awesome roommates, and an awesome location. More to come later on the summer going ons.

I hope all is well with everyone, and that you are all ready to be done with school (if you haven't finished), or having a kick ass summer (if you have finished already).

Have a great night!

Matt
