After a mission gone wrong Colin Mochrie is captured by enemy forces...
With high expectations human beings leave Earth to begin a new life in space colonies. However, the United Earth Sphere Alliance gains great military powers and soon seizes control of one colony after another in the name of justice and peace. The year is After Colony 195. In a move to counter the Alliance's tyranny, rebel members of certain colonies scheme to bring new arsenals to the Earth. Five new mobile suits, known as Gundams, along with their elite pilots are sent out to destroy the Alliance army. The battles between the mobile suits sent to Earth and the Alliance forces cause the Earth to shudder violently.
“I hope midgets fuck on your graves,” Colin spat the words at his captors, his dark eyes full of defiance. The captain of the guards backhanded him sharply across the face.
“Shut your mouth, rebel scum,” The captain's breath was hot and rank against Colin's skin. He took the blow in silence and looked back at the man with a smile. He knew nothing pissed off Alliance guards more than a prisoner who wasn't cowed.
“Hey, you know I almost felt that,” Colin grinned and watched with fascination as the captain's skin flushed puce in his fury. All he had to do was goad this man into losing control and watch for an opportunity to escape. The anger in the captain's eyes turned cold and calculating. Colin's plan evaporated. The captain, it seemed, had more sense than Colin had given him credit for. He nodded to one of his men who quickly stepped forward, cracking his knuckles with glee. Colin gritted his teeth, determined not to give his captors the pleasure of hearing him scream. The first blow dropped him to his knees. The second had him sprawled on the floor and he instinctively curled, trying to protect his vulnerable belly. As a steel toed boot stamped down on Colin's right arm he couldn't help but think he really needed to learn when to keep his mouth shut.
“We need him alive, remember?” The captain drawled. “This little shit is going to be publicly executed. The death of one of the famed Gundam pilots will show the colonies how useless their rebellion is. His execution will win this war for us.” A thrill of real fear licked through Colin, so that was how it was going to be. The next kick caught the back of his head. After that he didn't feel anything at all.

“In other news, Alliance forces announced that they have shot down one of the five Gundam mobile suits which have been terrorising the Earth. The Gundam pilot has been arrested.”
Ryan's head shot up at the newsreader's voice. He abandoned his meal and rushed over to get a view of the vid monitor. The image on the screen made his stomach twist. They had Colin. The picture showed the unconscious man being dragged down a corridor by two Alliance soldiers. He'd been badly beaten. Ryan clenched his fists, wanting to strike out at those who had hurt his... Well, he didn't know what Colin was to him exactly. Colin was a fellow Gundam pilot, a brother-in-arms, but recently he had become so much more than that.
“Idiot,” Ryan said softly, talking about both himself and his fellow pilot. Colin for being dumb enough to get caught. Himself for caring. This was war, he couldn't afford personal attachments to anyone no matter how charming or lovable that person might be. The beeping of his laptop alerted him to an incoming call. The bad feeling only intensified. He knew who this was going to be. Ryan sat down in front of his laptop and hit the button to accept the call. The hated and respected face of his mentor flashed up on the monitor.
“Stiles, I have a new mission for you,” a familiar cultured voice said. “I'm sure you've seen the news. We cannot allow that Gundam pilot to remain in enemy hands. Infiltrate the Alliance base and terminate Colin Mochrie.”
Blood filled Ryan's mouth as he bit down hard on the inside of his cheek. This was the order he'd been expecting, been dreading. He'd been warned over and over again during his training to keep his interactions completely professional. With Colin he'd never stood a chance, the man had fought his way through all of Ryan's barriers and had found a place in his carefully sheltered heart. And now Ryan had to kill him.
“Mission accepted.”

Pain, sharp and dull all at once, was the only sensation Colin felt when he awoke. He blinked his eyes open and was not surprised as only darkness greeted him. Judging from the echo of his harsh breathing off metal walls, he was in an Alliance holding cell. Just great. He sat up with a quiet groan and tried to take stock of his situation. His right arm was broken and hanging uselessly at his side. Judging by the way that it hurt to breathe his ribs were broken too. His self diagnosis was interrupted as the door to his cell slid open. Colin forced himself not to wince away from the suddenly blinding light. He was tense, ready to die fighting, until he saw a familiar silhouette appear in the doorway. He slumped back against the wall, a smile on his lips.
“Hey Ryan, what took you so long?”
When silence was his only reply Colin sighed, it seemed this wasn't the rescue party he'd been hoping for. Ryan raised his handgun and took aim at Colin's head.
“Just in time,” Colin said as he pulled himself to his feet. “They were about to use my execution to further their plans. If I'm going to die I'd rather it be by your hand than theirs. Go on, shoot me.”
Ryan's green eyes narrowed as he flicked off the safety on his handgun and began to squeeze down on the trigger. Colin burst out laughing at the absurdity of his situation.
“You're really going to kill me, aren't you?”
Ryan hesitated for perhaps the first time in his life. He'd been taught early on that to disobey orders simply wasn't an option. For as long as he could remember he'd been their perfect solider but now, faced with the man who had saved his life and his sanity on several occasions, Ryan just couldn't bring himself to pull the trigger.
“Your left hand's still okay, right?” He asked as he tossed Colin the gun he'd been about to shoot him with only moments before.
Colin caught the weapon with ease. “It's fine, my ribs on the other hand...”
Ryan wrapped one arm around Colin's waist, allowing the shorter man to lean on him as they made their way out of the cell. On seeing the bodies of the guards that littered the hallway Colin couldn't help but be impressed.
“Thank you,” he said quietly. Ryan turned to look at him with a puzzled expression. “For the rescue. I know your orders were to terminate.”
“Now we're even,” Ryan said, trying desperately not to think about what consequences he'd have to face for disobeying a direct order. Both men jumped as the alarm sounded. Ryan leaned down to steal a rifle from one of the guards he'd incapacitated earlier. Adrenaline surged through his veins and, in a moment of recklessness, he leaned over and kissed Colin firmly. “We're going to make it out of here.”
Colin didn't doubt Ryan's words for a second. Despite his injuries, the blaring alarm and the inevitable battle to come, Colin knew that they would survive.
Together, they were invincible.
