I've got about 100 or so pages left in the fifth installment of The Sun Sword series by Michelle West. One more book in the set and it'll be over. I know already that I'm going to have this huge empty gaping hole in my life after it's all over. lol Anyway, if you are craving some serious meat on your fantasy fiction platter, I can't recommend these books highly enough. It is literary fiction in all sense of the words. I, of course, absolutely love it. This is no romantical fantasy here. No siree. It's politics and war all the way. Throw in some demons, immortals, seers and a race of gypsy type people and you're good to go. My few words can in no way encompass such a vast world and in depth character development. There's no way. The Sun Sword series has officially moved up to my top five favorite sets of all time; and I'm fairly well read in the genre; enough to be a bit jaded. lol
My craving to stay in that world has kept me from my other endeavors of late, but my fingers are already starting to itch toward the keyboard. This afternoon, I was glancing at some stories I might revisit and add to... I've got so many WIPs that I'm sure there will be something that suits my fancy at the time. I hope. There is the likelihood that I just do a short PWP and be done with it though. lol That would be more typical. o.O
I just reached over and grabbed my book. I've got around a hundred and half pages. There's a nice 828 pages in the Riven Shield; pretty sure the last installment has about that, so I will probably be gone for some time yet. I'm a fairly faster reader and it has taken me some time to chew through these books. For reference: Harry Potter can last me three days if I read casually; a day/ day and half if I read avidly. These books have taken me weeks of casual reading. Casual reading being about four hours a day. There is no whipping through them, not if you really want to understand what is going on. lol
So yeah... go read them if you're in the market for something like that. Six books, fine print, over 800 pages per book, continuous plot, top notch character development, believable world. 10 stars from me. :) I have no doubts at all the last in the series will live up to expectations.
