Struggle marks the lives of the people of "Unaka." The characters range from Mickey-a four-year-old boy who has never spoken, Elena-a 30 year-old divorcee who is cynical about her chance for happiness, and Sobia-a Pakistani national living in America.
The characters found in "Unaka" are not the fortunate nor the lucky. Rather, they make their way through an often grim reality grasping onto happiness where-ever they find it.
