Momoe sat on her porch steps, enjoying warm sunshine. The white cat... her fourth over the years... rumbled as she stroked silky fur.

She'd dreamed about the boys, and wondered what they were doing. Aya had gone to America, but suddenly stopped writing letters. Ken had become a coach, for real, in a local high school; Momoe smiled at the prior jobs his resumé documented.

Yohji had disappeared. Momoe hoped he was happy in his new life.

She hugged Omi, at her side. His visits were treasures, like waking up to another sunrise.
