The nurse jabbing him with a needle never knows how close to death she comes. Farfarello checks himself and watches her hands.
“Just making sure we’ve got a vein,” she says in the royal speech of med staff and pulls the plunger back.
Farfarello has seen a lot of blood in a lot of wrong places, much of it his own, but that small red splash in the confines of the glass -
It looks lonely.
He looks away and completely misses the sympathetic pat on the hand the nurse gives him as she pumps the sedative into his blood stream.
