Crawford gripped the edge of the desk, another vision coming to the forefront of his thoughts. The events fell around him like plastic balls from a child’s bounce house, pelting his mind hard enough to cause a headache.
A firm presence gripped his shoulder, bringing him back into the room, grounding him to the moment.
“Tea, ye best drink it before it gets cold. It’ll help the shakes and your head,” he said, the Irish lilt more evident in his voice because he was in one of his better moods.
Crawford nodded, looking to the tea cup. “Thank you, Farfarello.”
------------
Nagi entered the apartment, closing the door quietly behind him before he twisted the lock. Going to the kitchen he noted the teapot on the stove and sniffed at the empty teacup on the table, a blend of black teas - Farfarello’s doing.
Walking to the back of the apartment, Nagi peeked into Crawford’s bedroom. Farfarello sat sentinel on a chair at Crawford’s bedside and a cool cloth was over Crawford’s forehead.
Farfarello turned, his eyes reflecting like a cat’s. Seeing Nagi, Farfarello put a finger to his lips.
Nagi nodded, closing the door. Another vision - this time, a bad one.
-------------
Crawford opened his eyes beneath the cool cloth, knowing Farfarello sat beside him. The man always seemed calmer when bad visions manifested. Maybe it was the energy that was created by their coming into their being or maybe it was the calm before the storm, Farfarello’s way of getting ready for a fight. Regardless, the man was capable despite his unpredictable tendencies.
“When?”
Crawford removed the cloth from his face and answered the man’s question. “Tonight.”
“More tea?”
“Coffee.”
“Understood,” Farfarello said, standing.
A few moments later, Nagi smelled coffee brewing.
There would be blood tonight and hot whiskey in the morning.
