The following is the first page "teaser" of the novel which I have just started to write. I'm hoping to have it completed in the Fall of 2010.
Hope you enjoy it...

He hovered above the ocean in a deep dense fog, keenly aware and stretching his bodiless spirit to a place where his instincts would finally take him. In the distance, on the soft sands of a sprawling beach, he sensed a fluid vibration of human life, a fresh soft place swathed in a belly of warm flesh. It had taken hundreds of thousands of years of transformations to arrive at this next crucial transfer point but the time of human wakening was close and this next life span occupancy would require a complete culminating success.  Because of the brutal and catastrophic history of his people and the promise that he had made to them, failure was not an option.

The little boy with sun bleached blond hair piled sand from a blue plastic bucket, making a perfect turret for a sand castle which was well into development, nearing completion. His mother looked on while lying on a multi-colored beach towel. The fog over the ocean was lifting its veil, revealing a warm morning sun; and putting a smile on a happy mother’s face.

It was the right time to saturate the flesh and to make his entrance into the warmth of the womb and to surround the fetus. Even though he had performed this procedure thousands of times before, it still remained his favorite point of transferring. Soon he would be able to relax and enjoy almost nine months of solitude and peace; a time to reflect and to plan his very important mission.

The flames flickered and the dry wood popped within the fire pit; the fire’s light helping to enhance the curtain of blackness that hung quietly around the circle of light. Marcus and Sophie were captive only to each other’s conversations and to the sparkling blanket of stars that sprinkled the night sky overhead.

The marshmallow began to sag on the end of Marcus’s stick before a burst of flame turned the outer edges black.

The easiness and pleasure of the day filled with shopping, fishing at sunset and being with the woman that he loved did little to push away the thoughts of the dreaded dream that was once again haunting his sleepless nights. The vision was back and it was more frequent and troubling than ever before. In the thirty two years of his life, Marcus had only one dream and it kept replaying in his head over and over again, worming into his mind, determined to break his sanity or hopefully push him to a resolution and an end to this frustrating and frightening invasion of his sleeping hours...
