I write this having just returned from a late night walk.
Nothing much out of the ordinary in the work day. Walking out of work I felt like I needed to get some fresh air and do something, the past two days have been spent mostly just at the hotel or work, and not really doing anything else besides. Outside it was still really warm (18C, 64F) and not too windy despite it being so late. getting close to midnight. Lovely weather. So I went first for a late night dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe before they closed (had a burger, figured their burgers could get a second chance - but it wasn't really much to write home about, even if I'm doing that right now (kinda)... so can't recommend that)
After that I went for a walk in the remarkably quiet and empty city (ok, it was getting close to midnight on a wednesday so perhaps not that of a surprise). I meandered in the South End, a district I'd not yet really explored though it's right next to the hotel (in fact I think my hotel is technically in that district). Originally built as cheap housing area for immigrants, it's now apparently one of the better neighbourhoods. The houses reminded me of those in Brooklyn, or perhaps some in Montreal, with stairs going half a floor up from the street to the front door. I wandered in some of the smaller back streets which were all very well kept and there were small garden spots everywhere, in front of the houses and besides the streets too, with small parks here and there. And trees as well, I don't know which ones but they had small white flowers. And leaves already some 2cm in size! It was lovely, one of the streets was completely covered by the canopy of the two rows of trees on either side. There was even a scent from the flowers there, as the street was so shielded by the buildings that there was no wind. Nice and peaceful.
I kept a brisk pace so in fact got a little hot near the end. In some 45 mins I was back at the hotel. And my mp3 player's battery ran out while I was in the elevator coming up, now that's a convenient timing.
No pictures were taken as it was dark and I didn't feel like carrying my camera along to even try.
