oh, wow, these are totally and completely fascinating. I can't decide, on a first glance, if I really like them or am repulsed by them. I think both, equally. And understand that I mean repulsed in the same way that I'm repulsed by my red fish icon, which I've used without stop for several years now, ever since the first day you made it. I *adore* my red fish icon. So these are a little nauseating, but I can't look away and if I liked Hugh (well, of course I like him - he's pretty, but you know what I mean about people), I think I'd have to use one and relish it. Huh. This might bear further scrutiny. *g* It's the combination of the polka dots/bubbles and the weirdly muted colors and I don't even know. Very provoking, Wiz. I like that. *squish*
Aren't they though? Trust you to hit the nail. :) And no worries, I very much get the repulsive/ facinating/ maybe a little bit pretty referrence. I have that toward a lot of things, sometimes even toward people. :P But until you pointed it out, I didn't realize that I feel this way toward this post.
For me it is the 60/70-ies vintage look (which I am not generally a big fan of) combined with the tan finish. Makes the colours dirty. Takes you back to a time when deodorants weren't what they are today. The icons smells a little of that, ne?
But I did have fun with them. A lot of fun. I have felt like I have made the same icon over and over for a while and had no inspiration at all. The cure for that, for me, is making textures. And it was the textures that brought these particular icons about. There may be other strange icons ahead. But certainly a multitude of texture posts :D

Yes, that's exactly it. Like bile, a bit. But I'm glad you made them - it's like the way I write - I keep trying new things. That's why I do it. That's the fun of it.
I really, really - I mean REALLY - like these icons. And it's not just because of Hugh Jackman. :D The style is just so different and unusual in relation to most icons out there. I've snagged 1, 5, 6 and 9 (my favorite). Will credit, of course. Thanks!
