http://www.glenmorangie.com/our-whiskies/finealtaGlenmorangie, of course, I have long regarded as the finest Scotch. I don't know if it's their insanely high goose neck distillery stacks, or their recipe, or their aging, but it's bottled heaven.
Finealta is made based on a recipe from 1903, and it's a limited edition whiskey that sells for $80 a fifth. As a college student with a fairly low fixed income, that's a big risk to take on something unknown, but Glenmorangie is a safe bet, so I bought it.
Wow. The initial aroma was very citrusy, with just a hint of heather. The initial burst on the tongue is bright and fruity, with a balanced smokiness as it hits the whole tongue. The aftertaste holds the strong clean citrus taste.
If you see it, buy it. A fifth of this stuff is easily more enjoyable than 3 bottles of Blended. Sip it, sip it neat, or with very little water. You don't need to cut it, even though its 92 proof.
