I've NEVER seen anything like what i saw this evening in Detroit. I went down to Winter Blast with Rob, his family and my parents and it was absolutely jaw dropping. I never would have thought OUR CITY could pull something off like they did for the superbowl. There was an unbelievable amount of people down there and yet there was NO problems what so ever. It was defintely organized chaos.
It was so cool to see all the out of towners and fans for the teams. One guy actually asked if detroit was always so active like this...we just looked at him and laughed. All the out of towners think detroit is always so busy and entertaining, i think thats hilarious. I got news for them...unless there is something big going on, detroit is usually dead except for the greektown area or something.
There was just so much to see and do. We spent a good 3 hours down there and still didnt get to do everything we wanted. It was sad bcuz all the ice sculptures were melting and i know people worked so hard on them. We got free hot chocolate and some other things. All the tents had different bands playing and themes, everything was just so cool.
To top it off I saw the most beautiful snow fall EVER...it was breath-taking and to see it with my boy holding me in his arms...well it was absolutely amazing. Luckily we had the hook up cuz i worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield and we had free private parking in there gargage. We drove right in and the best part was that it was a block away from all the happenings.
And...at first when i thought about it, i wanted to stay CLEAR from Detroit all of superbowl week. But when i thought about it i realized that this could never happen again in my day and that i should tackle the crowds and experience everything i could. Im sooo glad i changed my mind, cuz for surely i will NEVER forget this night. It was by far the most amazing thing ive ever seen as far as our city goes!?!?!?!
Tomorrows the big day...i must get some sleep :)
Sweet Dreams
