I knew that I was not wrong.
So last night I was talking with Heather, and I made a statement in which I used the word "stature", and she thought that I should have used the word "status" so she corrected me. I did not argue with her at the moment because it was not important, but there was a voice in the back of my head that was telling me that I did use the word correctly. So I looked it up today, and I did in fact use the word correctly. In fact, "stature" in a synonym for "status".
I think that I should start having a dictionary in the house so that when ever Heather corrects me on a word that I miss use, I can look up the word that I used and see how I did in fact miss use it or not. Now, you might think that I would do this to see if she is correct or not, but that would not be correct. I hate to make her feel that she is wrong, and never would do this to achieve that means. I am just trying to improve my vocabulary and my speech, and looking up words that I miss use seems like a good way to do that. That way I will know for next time when to use the word.
