Well, I got the package today. The job offer from Boeing themselves for a full time position rather than just being a contract employee. Now, the one downside is the fact that the job will have a slight pay cut, but the benefits that I am being offered should be more than the cut. For starters, they have a health plan with Dental and Vision with no money out of my paycheck. They are have a pension plan in which I don't have to contribute towards and another one in which I can and they will match dollar for dollar. This is at least much better than what my contracting company were offering; no matching 401k and horrible health care. So that is the newest of my news.
I know that I have not posted much in the past couple of days, or should I say, a week. This week have been rather busy with the fact that we were having to rebuild around 20 systems by this Thursday. So Monday was spent re-niming the servers and setting up a few of the servers. Tuesday was much of the same. Well, at least the day was. The evening was a different matter. As usually, Heather and I went in to her play writing group, but this time we brought Heather's friend Matt with us. He was coming along in order to help Heather and the others at the group to act out her play. We decided to drive in right after I picked them up at rehearsal and eat at the IHOP. The meal was very good, but as we were leaving I noticed that my car had a flat tire. "Great, now I get to change a tire. How fun!" Now mind you, that I have never done this before, so this is more of a challenge than one might think. So I get out the manual for the car. Yes, that is right, I am such the geek that I used the manual to change my tire. But anyway, I get out the jack and the tire after I empty the stuff from the trunk into the back set. I then proceeded to change the tire. Total time to change the tire: ~20 min. Not bad for the first time changing one.
So Wednesday was filled with more server builds and finding a tire repair shop. Because driving around on a donut tire is not that fun. Plus, knowing my luck, I probably would have put a hole in it too. In the evening, Heather was at rehearsal until 10, so I decide to clean the kitchen and the dinning room. It looks much better now. And last night, Heather told me that she was asked by the director to take production photos as they did their full run of the play with lighting and all.
And I guess that brings me up to tonight. So that has been my week.
