es, it is Friday. The last day of the work week. What does this mean for me? Well, two days of not having to get up at 6:30 am. That is at least a good thing. But I still have to get through today before that can happen. I will probably be spending the afternoon building a script to automate the job of installing some software that we will be needing to put onto 2 or 3 machines come Monday. It should at least make it so that Joe doesn't go insane again like he did yesterday. He was getting upset at the install instructions because they were not easy to follow, and I don't think he really wanted to be doing the work anyways. Plus, I get the feeling that he doesn't really like the person who wrote them. Well, at least the 50 or so times he cussed his name was a good indication of his feelings for him.
But in Joe's defense, the instruction did leave a lot to be infered by the Systems administrator. Such as the following example: "Define the user in the ldap authentication domain for the environment." Wow....that is so informative. Ok, now how do we define this user in the ldap enviroment?? Well, perhaps the next step will tell us this answer. "Set the home directory for the ..." Nope, that isn't it. We can't define a home directory for a non-existing user. ...So 45 min and three people later, we finally come up with a "well, it might mean this" answer. Which was, create a local account on the LDAP server and every 30 min a script will come along, pull the user out of the /etc/passwd file and place it in the LDAP system. Hhhhmmm... Now why in the hell could they just not state that in the instructions? Look, I did it in only like one sentence. It isn't that hard. So lets hope that my script will make things a little simpler for us, come Monday.
This weekend looks to be eventful. Well, at least Sunday. An old friend from my home town, Eric, will be babtizing his little boy this weekend. I have not yet decided if I will be going to the actual babtismial at the church, but Heather and I will be going to the BBQ that he will be having that evening. So that should be fun. I will get to see him again after about 3 - 4 years, and his parents will be there. Now, I do feel that I should mention that I am hoping that his younger sister, Jessica (or I like to refere to as, the psycho ex) will not be there for that just might be a little akward.
