Who: Kairi and Namine
Where: Dream
Warnings: Evil plots, More Warnings.
The room was plastered white. Everything about it was immaculately clean. The walls were scattered with crayon drawing. In the center of this room was a long white table, two chair placed on either end. Namine took a step foreword and found the ground soft, like feathers. Was this a dream? She asked herself. Her normal Hogwarts attaire had been replaced with a sleek white dress. She looked around once more---spotting Kairi.
Kairi took in the space around her- she was blinded by the room's shade of white. She floated opposite the side of the long table where another figure levitated. Kairi found that her standard black robes had also been substituted for a knee-length dress of white. She took a step and fell slowly to the ground. It all felt so real-could this be a dream, or not?
Namine tried to call out to Kairi to figure out what was going on. But nothing came out. Her voice stuck in her throat, unable to escape. Looking around once more, a brown sketch pad lay on the floor, tattered and torn. Namine reached for the pad, its pages full of the crayon sketches that seemed to be on the wall. She flipped through the pages, finding the familiar faces of Sora, Kairi and Riku.
Kairi recognized the other figure as Namine, who was silently flipping the pages of an old notebook. Did Namine see her? Was she invisible? Kairi walked over to her to ask why they were both here in this unknown place. Namine always seemed to have answers. But when Kairi approached her friend and tried to speak, nothing came out. There was a net in her throat, preventing her from saying anything.
Transfixed in the images before her, she hear Kairi approach. But a feeling of warmth washed over her, causing her to look up. Kairi stood next to her, the same confused look on her face. Once again, Namine tried to speak. Nothing. She placed the notebook down. It slid off the table onto the floor, causing Namine and Kairi to trace it's fall. Abruptly a figure clad in black and chains pushed through the door. Namine instinctively moved closer to Kairi. The figure didn't seem to see the two girls standing together.
"She's gone" Came a voice from the figure. A man's voice. He reached out for the notebook that had fallen, once more, to the floor.
"She didn't take the book" He muttered.
Kairi looked questioningly towards Namine, then gazed back at the strange figure. What girl? She mouthed to Namine and shrugged her shoulders.
Kairi tried to call out to the mysterious person, and yet again, there was complete silence. She reached out for the sketchbook and her hand went right through. Kairi gasped and studied her hands. She looked at Namine with a terrified look.
Namine watched as Kairi's hand slid through the book, just as if she was reaching out. She went to grab Kairi's hand, unsure if it was to comfort Kairi that she was not turning invisible or reassure that Kairi wasn't a ghost. Namine's hand grasped Kairi’s long delicate fingers before their fingers meshed together, and became one hand. Namine pulled back, stepping back, cradling her own hand. Her eyes widened in shock. What had just happened? Their fingers, skin, bones, nails, had become one. Surely that wasn't normal?
"What should we do?" questioned the man. Namine had forgot about him. Another man in black entered the room, this time his black uniform differed than the first mans, he had no chains and sported a white mask.
"We wait. Surely the girl will be trying to find herself so she can hide. No matter. She will join our side soon enough. Come, let us return to our masters."
Kairi gasped in shock as she watched Namine's hand mesh with her's. The flesh melted together, but there was no pain. She glanced wide-eyed at Namine, and then looked back at the new figure who entered the room. Who will join what side? Masters? What was going on?
The two men disappeared into dark portals adjacent to each other. Kairi tried to run after them, but she couldn't because of her odd attachment to Namine. What do we do? She mouthed, hoping Namine could tell what she was saying.
Namine shook her head in response. Suddenly the room started the age. The white faded to grey and the walls cracked and crumbled. Vines grew from the floor the weave their way towards the ceiling. The room grew colder and darker. Namine and Kairi stood transfixed. Their hands slid apart as easily as they melted together.
You two stand as an enigma. One in whole the other in nothing. A deep velvet voice purred. The walls seemed to be talking.
One stands in light, the remaining in twilight. The unknown voice continued. Kairi stepped forward, as her eyes examined the darkness that surrounded them so suddenly. Namine's hand parted from her own. "Where...are we?" Kairi whispered, and her voice echoed for what seemed like an eternity. She held a hand to her mouth, as the net was removed from her throat. A chilly wind blew through the everlasting darkness, and Kairi offered a slender hand to Namine. "Come on." She said determinedly. Namine grasped Kairi's hand, hanging onto the beckon of reality this--dream seemed to hold. Namine didn't know where the voice came from or who was talking. She just wanted to wake up. They walked forever, the darkness never abating. Which will succumb to the evils ahead? Which heart will be deemed worthy of life? The voice grew more sinister and the girls grew more terrified of the meaning. Suddenly Namine couldn't walk. Her hand slipped
"No! Namine!" Kairi whipped around and tried to pull on Namine's forearm. Her pale arm slipped away, as the darkness attempted to consume her. "You can't get hurt!" Kairi cried, a tear falling to through the unending oblivion.
...And which heart will be deemed unworthy of life?
"Can't...let...it...get us! C'mon, Namine, don't give up!" Kairi said calmly. But as she pulled harder, Kairi was being taken away by an invisible force.
Namine Heard Kairi screaming, begging for her not to give into the silky darkness. But it was so soft and Namine was tired. Perhaps she could just rest here for a little while.
As soon as the darkness enveloped Namine, it slithered away. Kairi stood panting, struggling against her own force. Seeming as the right idea, Namine stumbled to stand, reaching for Kairi to help her. "You can do this Kairi!" Namine pulled kairi's hand with both of hers. A sudden release had the two falling again.
This time they fell on soft grass. "What's going on?" Namine asked aloud. They had entered a graveyard, where the two men they had seen in the white room stood. Kairi instinctively stood up next to Namine, still panting from their narrow escape. She looked at the same men she had seen before. "I don't know. We have to be careful." Kairi whispered.
The two men stood conversing amongst themselves. "Should we...?" Kairi trailed off, trying to ask Namine a question she wasn't even sure how to finish. Namine pressed her finger to her lips and motioned Kairi to follow. The men were speaking in whispers. Their conversation seemed hastened. "---worry, My master grows stronger everyday. We needn't find the witch." One spoke
"Of course, if she finds her counter... well let's pray she doesn't. And the boys?"
"Missing as well. Whoever is hiding them...Do you hear something?" Namine and Kairi froze instantly. The scene before them unraveled. Pigments and colors faded into darkness until both Kairi and Namine stood face to face on a sheet of glass, surrounded by white.
"You are one" This time, a hush girlish voice whispered. Namine looked around. "Don't be fooled by what's to come. Your wings will grow and flowers will bloom. Work together. Don't be fooled. You are one." the voice spoke
Kairi gazed around the room, searching for the source of the voice.
"You are one." A girl's voice was heard, and Kairi gazed questioningly at Namine.
"We are one." Kairi repeated, whispering. A light floated down from out of nowhere and hovered between them.
The light grew brighter. Namine soon covered her eyes with her hand. The next thing she knew, she was in her bed, alone. Beads of sweat trickled down her forehead and she panted. Was this was Sora and Harry had gone through? Namine made sure she would talk to Kairi in the morning.
